We decided to wait until
the trip left before we went ashore but, don't know why, it left 45
minutes late so we were also late leaving. This gave us not enough time
to really "do" the town (we're not as quick as we were) and
we missed quite a lot of it, especially the Rhein Gate because we approached
the town from one end and didn't go through it! Anyway, we started at
the end of the Round Tower and the Cathedral of Maria which was excellent

Took a slow meander around
the edge of the town and back into the centre seeing the Old Town Hall
and the statue of the Baker Boys
Legend has it that people
of Linz were trying to attack Andernach while the locals slept (even
the watchman) but two baker boys delivering bread heard them and, it
being too late to sound the alarm bombarded them with beehives (which,
luckily, were kept by the nightwatchman). The day was saved! (Note the
beehives under the boys).
