2018 Harbours of Western France

Ship was docked in La Pallice and we took the short shuttle bus ride to La Rochelle. The bus was very full and had no air conditioning so it was an uncomfortable journey. Firstly we walked to the rather splendid Railway Station and then to the Old Port. Very pleasant, the three towers are particularly striking.

The three towers in the Old Port and the Yacht Basin (with the lighthouse in the distance)

Left Edna in the Old Port (very hot again) and headed into the Old Town, through the Great Clock Tower Gate

Unfortunately there were a lot of road works and restorations going on so photography was not easy (couldn't get any of the Town Hall). Saw the Cathedral and St. Sauveur's Church (couldn't go in, wearing shorts)

As always there were a few statues I liked

The War Memorial, Admiral Guy Victor Duperré (1775-1846) and Eugène Fromentin (Painter, 1820-1876)

Back to the ship and took several photos of the impressive Ile de Ré Bridge
