Got off with mobile phone at the ready
to ring Gary (our friend from Wraysbury days) when I realised I'd left
the camera behind! Back on board to get it and, by the time I got ashore
again, Edna had been accosted by a balding, greying local. Lucky I didn't
give him a slap as it was Gary! Having said that, we didn't tell him
what ship we would be on (surely there's only one visiting Riga from
the UK today). We moored next to a Fred Olsen Liner! What a day this
was! A personal tour around Riga and a visit to their home (to be honest,
we couldn't afford anything like they have in Riga in the UK - should
we all move to Latvia? - perhaps too late, we're leaving the European
Community).
Gary and Elena's Home
The City was most attractive with lots of flower beds,
fountains and statues. Not easy to park so Gary dropped we three off
for a walk through the centre and met up with us later, he then left
us again to get the car and we met up for the 20-25 minutes drive to
their home.
