Afternoon stop at Traben,
an uninspiring town but is this because we're getting used to the beautiful
German towns? Overlooked by the ruins of Grevenburg Castle, built in
1350 and destroyed by the French in 1734. Astonishing how many of the
ruined castles passed were, according to the Cruise Director, destroyed
by the French in 1734!
The weather was, as you
can see, iffy but at least dry so a walk was in order (we'd turned down
the free tour which included a wine tasting).
Rather an attractive bridge which we negotiated and there were some
pleasant buildings etc. but it didn't have the "feel" of some
of the other stops.
