Vukovar was
almost leveled in the Civil War in the 90s, being sieged for 87 days.
25,000 are thought to have been killed, went missing or exiled at this
time. The Town is, therefore, in a poor state with 40% unemployment.
Went on an included tour in the afternoon, visited a fortress and a
magnificent Church (although a bit over the top by our standards).

Only had
about 20 minutes free time at Osijek (wanted more) before we were taken
to a farm where we were entertained with a short film about the area
and the owner donning a ferocious hairy mask and telling us the history
of same (obviously we've forgotten everything he said!). Then a wine
tasting and the inevitable sales pitch.
