Black Sea Melodies:
Didn't go on a trip but decided to spend a few hours in the Town. On
the walk there we met people coming back who said "Nothing there
worth seeing". I beg to differ! The Main Street is very pleasant,
with a very attractive Town Hall, open air cafes, a statue of Nobel
Prize winning writer Luigi Pirandello (Edna had heard of him, I hadn't),
who was born here in 1867, and a rather drab looking Church. Go in the
Church if you visit. Stunning! Well worth going to Porto Empodocle just
to visit the Church. Had a pleasant cup of coffee outside a cafe (serenaded
by an accordian player) and, all in all, a nice, quiet day in a nice
Town.
